Who we are and what these terms cover
Hektro is a Mac application, built for macOS, that runs your own Claude Code, Codex and zsh sessions in terminals on one board. It is sold by:
- HIDROGENONE S.R.L.
- Str. Ștefan cel Mare nr. 141, sat Răcăciuni, com. Răcăciuni, jud. Bacău, 607480, Romania
- Trade register: J2026047886007 (EUID ROONRC.J2026047886007)
- CUI 55359240
- VAT status: Not registered for VAT
- Email: support@hektro.com
- Phone: +40 774 604 273
In these terms, “we” and “us” mean HIDROGENONE S.R.L. “You” means the person or company that creates a Hektro account. More company details are on our legal notice page.
These terms form the contract between you and us for the Hektro app, the hektro.com website and your Hektro account. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and our Refunds and withdrawal page. By creating an account, you confirm that you have read these terms and that you accept them.
Consumers and business customers
You are a consumer if you use Hektro for purposes that are mostly outside your trade, business, craft or profession. If you use it for purposes that are mostly related to your trade or business, you are a business customer. If you cannot tell which one you are, we treat you as a consumer.
Some rules in these terms apply only to consumers, and some only to business customers. The text says so each time.
Information before you buy
If you are a consumer, the law asks us to give you the following information before you pay. The rest of these terms and our other pages give the details.
- What Hektro is. A Mac application that needs a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It runs your own Claude Code, Codex and zsh in terminals on one board. To use the AI agents, you need Claude Code or Codex installed and signed in with your own plan.
- Who sells it. HIDROGENONE S.R.L., with the details above.
- Price. $8.50 a month or $85 a year, in US dollars. See the pricing page. We are not registered for VAT. Other taxes: [tax line: to be confirmed].
- How you pay. By the payment methods shown at checkout, processed by Stripe. We never see your card data.
- How long the contract lasts. A subscription renews automatically each month or each year until you cancel. See “Billing and automatic renewal” below.
- How to end it. You can cancel at any time. See “Cancelling”.
- Right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have 14 days to withdraw from a new subscription. For the first subscription on an account, we also refund the payment in full if you ask within 14 days. See Refunds and withdrawal, which includes the model withdrawal form.
- Working with other software. Hektro needs a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and an internet connection to sign in and refresh your licence.
- Complaints. Write to support@hektro.com. See “Disputes and complaints”.
Who may use Hektro
You may use Hektro if you can enter into a binding contract under the law that applies to you. If you sign up for a company, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.
You need a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Hektro does not include Claude Code or Codex. You install and sign in to them yourself, with your own account and plan.
Your account
You sign in with GitHub, Google or a 6-digit code we send to your email. There are no passwords. You are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in accounts and your email secure. Tell us at support@hektro.com if you think someone else has access to your Hektro account.
One account can be active on up to 2 Macs at the same time. If you sign in on a third Mac, the sign-in page offers to sign out one of your other Macs so that you can continue.
Give us correct information. We use your email address to send sign-in codes and to contact you about your account.
Licence
When you have a valid trial or paid plan, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Hektro on up to 2 of your own Macs. You may use it for personal use or for the internal business use of your own company.
You may not:
- sell, rent, lend or sublicense Hektro, or give your account to someone else;
- share one account between several people;
- remove or work around the licence checks, or the limit of 2 Macs;
- copy, modify or reverse engineer Hektro, except where the law gives you that right and does not allow us to exclude it;
- use Hektro to build a competing product from our app or its assets.
We keep all rights in Hektro, including its name, logo and code, that these terms do not expressly give you. Hektro may include software from other authors that comes with its own licence terms. Those terms apply to that software.
Your licence works offline for up to 7 days. After that, Hektro must reach our licence server again to renew it.
Free trial
Every person can have one 7-day trial. You do not need a payment card. We apply the “once per person” rule by checking the sign-in identities used for trials. For that reason we keep a trial-claim key after an account is deleted, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
The trial gives you the same features as a paid plan. When it ends, you can choose a plan. Nothing is charged automatically at the end of the trial, because we hold no card. If you do not subscribe, Hektro limits what you can do until you do.
Billing and automatic renewal
Plans are $8.50 a month or $85 a year, both in US dollars. Both include every feature, up to 2 Macs and updates. Current prices are always on our pricing page.
You pay through Stripe Checkout. Stripe processes your payment. We do not receive your card data. Stripe sends you a receipt.
Automatic renewal. A paid plan renews at the end of each paid period, for the same period, at the price that applies then. We charge the payment method you chose at checkout. By subscribing you agree to this renewal.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe tries again for up to 7 days, and Hektro keeps working meanwhile. If it is still not paid after 7 days, your plan ends and you can subscribe again.
Taxes. We are not registered for VAT. Prices are shown in US dollars. [Tax treatment for buyers in other countries: to be confirmed.] If a tax is added at checkout, it is shown before you pay.
Price changes
We may change our prices. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you by email in advance of the renewal where the new price starts, early enough for you to cancel before it applies. If you do not cancel, the new price applies from that renewal. This does not limit any rights you have by law.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in the Stripe customer portal, which you reach from your account page. If you cannot use the portal, write to support@hektro.com and we will cancel for you. Cancel before the renewal date to avoid the next payment, because we cannot promise to read an email before it.
When you cancel, your plan does not renew. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund the unused part of a paid period. The exceptions are the cases in Refunds and withdrawal, the cases in “Updates” and “Ending the contract” below, and where the law gives you a refund.
You can also delete your account yourself from your account page. If a withdrawal from a contract is not finished yet, for example because a refund is still pending, you can delete the account once it is finished. Deleting it cancels your subscription and deletes your personal data, except what we must keep, as explained in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not by itself refund a payment. It ends your access right away, including the rest of any period you paid for, so cancel instead if you want to use Hektro until the end of the period.
Refunds and withdrawal
- For the first subscription on an account, we cancel it and refund the payment in full if you ask within 14 days of paying. This applies once per account, to everyone.
- If you are a consumer in the European Union, your legal right to withdraw within 14 days applies to a new subscription. If you asked for the service to start during that time, we keep a proportionate amount for the days you used. Our refund is in addition to that right and never replaces it.
- After 14 days, and for renewals, we do not refund pro rata, except in the cases in these terms and where the law gives you a refund.
All details, the rules for the trial, and the model withdrawal form are on Refunds and withdrawal.
Third-party AI agents
Hektro runs Claude Code and Codex on your Mac, under your own sign-in. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Anthropic or OpenAI.
- Anthropic’s and OpenAI’s own terms, policies and usage limits apply to your use of their tools. You are responsible for following them.
- Your AI usage stays with them. The agents talk to Anthropic or OpenAI directly, under your accounts. We do not proxy, pay for or measure it.
- We never receive the contents of your terminals, your prompts, your code or the output of the agents.
- If a provider changes or ends its tools or terms, parts of Hektro may stop working with that provider. If you are a consumer, your rights under “Your legal guarantee as a consumer” apply as the law provides.
Claude, Claude Code, Codex, OpenAI, Anthropic, GitHub, Google, Stripe and other names belong to their owners.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Hektro, our website or our servers to:
- break the law, or help someone else do so;
- attack, overload or probe our servers, or get around rate limits, bot checks or the trial rules;
- try to access another person’s account, device or data;
- create several accounts to get more than one trial;
- upload or send malware, or use Hektro to run attacks on others.
Your terminals and your code are yours. You are responsible for what you run with Hektro and for the commands that your AI agents carry out on your computer.
Updates
Hektro updates itself through Sparkle. We provide updates that are needed to keep Hektro working as described in this contract, for as long as you have a valid plan. If you do not install an update we have told you about, Hektro may stop working as described or become unsafe, and we are not responsible for problems that come only from that.
We may change Hektro, for example to add or remove features, to keep up with macOS or with third-party tools, or to improve security. If a change has more than a minor negative effect on how you use Hektro, we will tell you by email, reasonably in advance, what changes and that you may end the contract free of charge. If you are a consumer, you may then end the contract free of charge within 30 days of the change, or of our notice if later, and we will refund the unused part of your paid period.
Availability of sign-in and licence servers
Signing in, starting a trial, managing your account and renewing your licence need our servers. We try to keep them running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. A short outage can stop new sign-ins, trial starts and account page access. During an outage, a licence that is still valid keeps working for up to 7 days offline.
Your legal guarantee as a consumer
If you are a consumer, the law gives you rights if Hektro does not conform to the contract. In Romania, these are set by Government Emergency Ordinance 141/2021 on contracts for the supply of digital content and digital services, which implements Directive (EU) 2019/770. Under that law, if Hektro is not in conformity, you may be entitled to have it brought into conformity, to a price reduction, or to end the contract, in the cases and in the order the law sets out.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes those rights. If a term in these terms conflicts with a mandatory consumer right, the consumer right applies. If you live in another EU country, the mandatory consumer rules of that country also protect you (see “Governing law”).
Our responsibility
For everyone. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury, for intent or gross negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
For consumers. We are responsible to you as the law provides. Nothing in this section reduces your legal rights.
For business customers. To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of data;
- our total liability for all claims in connection with the contract is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event and USD 100.
Hektro runs terminals and AI agents, and these can change files on your computer. We do not receive your terminal contents or your code, so we cannot restore them. You are responsible for backing up your own work.
Ending the contract
You can stop at any time by cancelling and deleting your account.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, in particular the acceptable use rules, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. If we end your access for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the unused part of your paid period.
When the contract ends, your licence ends and you must stop using Hektro. Sections that by their nature continue (for example about liability and disputes) continue after the end. If you are a consumer, the effects of ending the contract on your data are explained in our Privacy Policy.
Governing law and courts
These terms and any dispute about them are governed by Romanian law.
Consumers. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you usually live, if they give you more protection than Romanian law. You may bring a claim against us in the courts of the place where you live, as well as in Romania. We may bring a claim against you only in the courts of the place where you live. Nothing in this section limits those rights.
Business customers. Disputes with business customers go to the competent courts of Romania.
Disputes and complaints
Please write to us first at support@hektro.com, or call +40 774 604 273 (the line is not always answered; email is the fastest way). We will reply to your complaint and try to solve it.
If you are a consumer and we cannot solve the problem, you may use the alternative dispute resolution (SAL) service of the Romanian consumer authority ANPC. More information is at ANPC SAL. You can also complain to the consumer protection authority of your own country. Using these channels does not stop you from going to court.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when the law changes or when Hektro changes. The date at the top of the page tells you when they were last updated. If a change is material, we tell you by email in advance. For a change that is less favourable to you, we will not apply it to a period you have already paid for. If you do not accept it, you can cancel before it applies. Using Hektro after a change that you were told about and that applies to a new period means you accept it, but this does not limit your rights as a consumer.
General
- Language. These terms are in English.
- Entire agreement. These terms, together with the pages they link to, are the whole agreement between you and us about Hektro.
- If part is invalid. If a term is found invalid, the rest stays in force.
- Transfer. You may not transfer the contract to another person without our consent. We may transfer it to another company that takes over Hektro, and we will tell you if we do.
- Not waiving rights. If we do not enforce a right at once, we do not lose it.
